The Sixty Minute Mother
By Rob Parsons
Review
Another excellent and accessible book from Rob Parsons. Talking to a variety of mothers, including Diane Parsons, from all backgrounds and situations, the author has compiled an inspirational book on the highs and lows of being a mother, with lots of fresh insights.
The first two chapters are written from a father and a mother's perspective by Rob and Diane Parsons. The following chapters are entitled: "When a mother...accepts, is asked "do you work?", is alone, is sick, feels guilty, and lets go.." with contributions from a single mum and another mum facing chemotherapy. Interspersed among the chapters are sections called "Take a Break", a moment to put the kettle on and reflect on insight from other mothers. "Sixty Second Wisdom" pages offer the bite sized chunks of wisdom that can be easily taken on board by the busy mum. The book is, like The Sixty Minute Father, easy to read, full of wisdom and real life stories - an opportunity for mothers to gain reassurance and advice to help them through. Just as many women read The Sixty Minute Father, let's hope many men will also read The Sixty Minute Mother and gain insight on the issues, struggles, joys and emotions which come with motherhood.
