Mother Started To Be ForgetFul

I noticed that my mom started to be forgetful and has limited social interaction with her friends lately. She has mood swings too. Are these signs of Dementia?

Thanks, but I should not be asking here if I just need a few information. I was thinking if some encountered the same situation. Symptoms and any stories that will help me sort out if its something serious and if it will need an immediate attention.

Dementia is typically characterized by the deterioration of cognitive abilities and is a common disorder among the elderly in Malaysia. However, behavioral and psychological symptoms are also present in approximately 90% of dementia patients. We report the manifestation of these symptoms in an elderly woman with dementia and the treatment thereof.
