Your School and Sex Education
By CARE for Education
Review
CARE for Education has always maintained that the education and upbringing of children is first and foremost the responsibility of parents. The home is where parents introduce their children to their values and worldview. For Christians this means passing on what they believe God teaches about many aspects of life, including sex and sexuality. From their earliest years, children learn much about what their parents believe about sex from family behaviour, from what is said and unsaid, in how parents respond to situations and from direct conversation between parents and children. However, most parents acknowledge the need for schools to play a part in this process. Research confirms that the large majority of parents want their child's school to be involved. This co-operation is endorsed by government guidelines and documents. In Your School and Sex Education, CARE for Education aims to help teachers, parents and governors who are involved in discussions about sex education or are concerned with the task of producing, revising or reviewing a school sex education policy.
